The Ghana Health Services says it has launched an investigation into the reported case of a patient who was abandoned in a bush at Ojobi.
The Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba is in the news for the wrong reasons after it allegedly abandoned a patient on admission to a bush.
The said patient was reportedly abandoned by family, following which management of the facility instructed an ambulance to be sent to Ojobi, where the patient had informed them she was staying.
The patient has since been reported dead after she was abandoned.
The Ghana Health Services, reacting to the issue, called for calm, announcing it has initiated moves to investigate the issue.
“The Service upon receiving this disturbing news has initiated investigations into the matter to establish the authenticity or otherwise of the story in line with the existing practices in the public service to enable it take
appropriate action(s).
The Service wishes to appeal to the general public to be patient as anyone found to be connected with this unfortunate incident will be severely dealt in accordance with provisions of the Service’s Code of Conduct.”
