Head Coach of Hearts of Oak, Aboubakar Ouattara, has described the performance of the team in the 2023–24 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season as poor.
The coach says he was not happy with the way the team struggled this season since they nearly got relegated.
The team managed to escape relegation after securing a 3-2 victory over Bechem United at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
Speaking in an interview, the head coach of the team expressed regret that the team escaped relegation but was not impressed with the performance of the team.
“To be honest, I am not very happy because this is not where Hearts of Oak should be,” the Ivorian coach commented after the match.
“At the start of the second round, we were only seven points behind the league leaders after 3-4 matches. Now, we have struggled to survive. I think it’s disappointing for us,” he said in a post-match interview.
He extended gratitude to the supporters of the team who have been behind the team despite their poor performance this season.
He assured the supporters that the team will take steps to address the challenges that led to their poor performance and come back better in the next season.
