The Member of Parliament for Assin Central has urged party supporters to rally behind the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, as he seeks victory in 2024.
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong stated that supporters must put the past behind them to form a united front for victory on December 7, 2024.
He also underscored the need for the supporters of the Vice President to reciprocate the same goodwill he is extending on behalf of his supporters.
He pleaded with both sides to unite and rally behind Dr. Bawumia and the NPP.
Addressing concerns raised by his supporters over his unannounced campaign activities with Dr. Bawumia, Mr Agyapong apologised saying: “It didn’t go well with some of you, and I want to apologise for not informing you before I went on the campaign tour.”
He also denied rumours of him resigning from the NPP to contest as an independent candidate.
He voiced concern over what he described as intimidation of his followers by the Vice President’s supporters.
He emphasised the importance of both parties working together to ensure victory on December 7, 2024.
He said “It didn’t go well with some of you, and I want to apologize for not informing you before I went on the campaign tour. However, I want all party faithful to know that I have not resigned from the party, nor am I going independent. I am still a member of the NPP.
As long as I am a member of the party, irrespective of what happened in the presidential primaries, I believe it is best for all of us to come together and rally support behind the party. I urge my supporters to use the occasion of my birthday to reconcile.
I also appeal to the supporters of the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to reciprocate the same goodwill I am extending on behalf of my supporters. I plead with both sides to unite and rally behind Dr. Bawumia and the NPP.”
