The Ghana Olympic Committee has extended its goodwill to the rest of the world as the world marks the 2024 ‘Olympic Day’.
This year’s edition is under the theme “Let’s Move and Celebrate.
In a statement issued by the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Ben Nunoo Mensah, he congratulated Ghanaian athletes and sportsmen and women for striving to mount the world stage at the Olympics.
According to him, the GOC remains committed to the inspiration of our athletes to encourage people to live a healthier, better, and more joyful life.
The theme for this year, he said, aims toignite a collective passion for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 by encouraging people to get active and feel connected through sport.
“As we celebrate this special day, I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate our athletes and Ghanaian sports men and women for the continues push and strive to mount the podium at the Olympic stage. The Ghana Olympic Committee is always encouraged by the inspiration of our athletes to encourage people to live a healthier, better and more joyful life” the GOC President said.
He added: “just as the Olympic Day is taking place ahead of Paris 2024, it is our hope that the celebrations will create some exceptional Olympic Games tone in Ghana ahead of Paris 2024.
Our athletes, the fans, the federations and the Olympic community is excited to be associated
with Paris 2024 Olympic Games – The very first Olympic Games with full gender parity. The very first Olympic Games aligned with the reforms of Olympic Agenda from start to finish.”
Meanwhile, the Ghana Olympic Committee and the Olympic movement will on Wednesday 26, June 2024 hold mass participation event and digital activations at the Nima Cluster of schools to provide an opportunity for everyone to move together.
They will be joined by of officials from the French embassy to celebrate the day the event will start at 9am, the statement announced.
