Mahama remains incorruptible despite the unfounded accusations thrown at him by the NPP  – Spokesperson

The campaign team of former President John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated categorically that the candidate remains incorruptible.

A statement issued and signed by campaign spokesperson Joyce Bawa Mogtari referenced a story that was used “deviously” by the NPP as a distraction from the several scandals involving this administration.

Some news portals and newspapers have published stories claiming that some members of the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration acquired properties worth $8,409,400 in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), under suspicious circumstances.

The publication, which is attributed to the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), revealed that a former MP in the Northern Region who also served as a Minister from 2013–2017 owns 20 apartments across five luxury buildings with a total estimated value of $7,240,400.

The properties include eight apartments at The One at Jumeirah Village Triangle, four apartments at Millennium Place, and two apartments at Wyndham Dubai Marina. The rest are four apartments in the Sky Central Hotel and The One Hotel.

It was reported that a former Member of Parliament in the Upper East Region who later became a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of one of the agencies under the Ministry of Energy during the John Mahama regime allegedly owned an apartment worth $133,100 in the prestigious Spirit Tower, a 19-story residential building in the Sports City of Dubailand.

Some NPP pages on social media have attached Mr. Mahama’s name to the story, but his campaign team has shot down the attempt, describing it as an attempt to divert attention from the recent alleged land-grabbing incidents that have hit the government.

The statement said “The recent NPP syndicated story, deviously using Mahama’s name as a distraction, is just another ploy to divert attention from the alarming state capture that is unfolding under this administration.

The looting of state lands and properties has reached unprecedented levels and has been a
topic of discussion in the past few weeks. This syndicated story is, therefore, just another
diversion to distract the public’s attention.”

No amount of loose and imagined associations from Ben Ephson and his NPP friends can
overturn this immutable fact that Mahama stands vindicated from all their mudslinging.
Rest assured, Mr Mahama will reclaim the presidency to revitalise Ghana’s economy and hold corrupt NPP officials accountable.”
