The People’s National Party (PNP) claims it is planning to select a presidential candidate for the 2024 election.
Madam Janet Nablah, the party’s national chairman and leader, says the party is prepared to win and will run in the upcoming elections.
She indicated that four persons have expressed an interest in contesting the party’s presidential primary.
According to her, the party will present competent personalities with the requisite skills in managing the economy, which the two major political parties, the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress, have failed to do.
She said that Ghana’s current crop of politicians practise individualism, a style of politics in which they come to government and amass wealth for themselves at the expense of providing better living conditions for Ghanaians.
The PNP, she noted, believes in communitarianism and our traditional systems.
She referenced the recent story of the woman who was dropped in a bush by a hospital and left to die.
She couldn’t understand why the people and opinion leaders abandoned the woman and instead used their phones to photograph her and leave her to die.
“Our patriotism has gone somewhere else, with everyone thinking about themselves,” she said.
To her, the community members and opinion leaders deserve to be flogged.
Managing the country, she stressed, ought to be done. in the spirit of unity, community, and togetherness in the interest of the country.
“The PNP operates with the slogan “My Family, My Community, My Motherland” and has a palm tree as its symbol because we believe that everyone has a role to play in the development of this country. We are poised to contest and win the 2024 presidential election. Four people, including a woman, have expressed interest in becoming our presidential candidate.”
