Janet Nablah, Chair and Leader of the People’s National Party (PNP), has emphasised the need for Ghanaians to demand more from politicians.
She stated that Ghana should eventually surpass the ugly politics of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
These two political parties, she lamented, don’t represent the interests of the voters but their selfish interests.
Using the recent decision by the Minister for Trade and Industry to regulate cement prices and the opposition from the Minority, she noted that this is outrageous and an insult to the people.
She argued that the Ministry’s action was the best and should’ve extended to other commodities.
She asserted that the Ghana Union of Traders should have no monopoly in determining prices since they are taking advantage of the current economic crisis to sell their commodities at unreasonable prices.
She claimed that the MPs, who are supposed to represent Ghanaians’ interests in supporting this initiative, are actually opposed and represent the interests of business people who may have funded their political campaigns.
This she described as dirty politics, in which both sides of the house engage and highlighted the end for it to stop.
She said on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM that this type of politics cannot help the country develop since it breeds corruption, greed, and selfishness.
“Ghana should surpass the dirty politics of the NDC and the NPP. We have to get to the point where Ghanaians will demand better leadership from our politicians. Ghanaians are tired, and they deserve better living conditions.
Ghana is supposed to work, and for Ghana to work, we have to eliminate greediness from our body politics. If not for greediness, an MP will not take money from a businessman who is only interested in making profits and will sell their goods at outrageous prices instead of representing the interests of the constituents who voted for him or her.”
