Security Analyst with Global Intelligence, Samuel Nana Appiah, has predicted that the 2024 presidential and parliamenatry elections would be the most peaceful.
Although some have predicted doom for the country, the analyst believes the general elections will be the most peaceful.
He has thus advised individuals instigating others ahead of the elections to refrain from doing so.
He made the assertions in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM today, Monday, July 1, 2024.
He was optimistic that the election results will be announced in a peaceful manner.
“Let me say this on authority: this year’s election is going to be one of the most peaceful elections we’ve had in this country because all the factors—the candidates who are contesting—we have to look at them very well. The opposition seems aggressive, but I can tell you that authority, the survey we are doing, the decision, and the orefernece of the people across all 16 regions want the will of the voters to be respected and the one who truly won to be declared the winner. Ghanais are not interested in violence.
There are politicians that wish to incite people, but I can tell you with certainty that Ghanaians are not ready for it. The election would be held peacefully, and the winner would be declared without any tension.”
He charged the security forces in charge with acting professionally, emphasising the need of authorities providing them with all of the tools they require to ensure a violent, free election.
“The security agencies need all the resources to ensure violent, free elections. We should also allow them to work without any interference. All the security agencies, including the CDS, the IGP, and the National Security Agency, must ensure that we have CR divisions going forward.”
