The Guinness World Records has described as fake the certificate Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith, popularly known as Chef Smith, presented at his press conference to declare himself the current record holder for the longest cooking marathon (individual).
In response to an inquiry filed by Rainbow Radio’s Dr. Ren, GWR said the Ghanaian chef does not hold the Guinness World Record (GWR) title for the longest cooking marathon (individual).
Chef Smith held a press conference in Accra on Tuesday and claimed he was currently the reigning Guinness World Record (GWR) holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, clocking an impressive 802 hours and 25 minutes.
Reporting on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Dr. Ren said the response from GWR read “Thank you for your message. No, this is not true at all. He does not hold the GWR title and that is not our certificate.
The current and true record holder is Alan
Fisher: The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 119 hr 57 min 16 sec and was achieved by Alan Fisher (Ireland) in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from 28 September to 3 October 2023.”
Madalyn Biefeld also informed Dr. Ren that GWR will meet to decide on the next line of action.
