General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has described the running mate of Drum Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, as a bold, incorruptible, and grassroots mobilizer.
He was optimistic that the Energy Minister and Manhyia South Member of Parliament will support the presidential candidate of the NPP towards victory in the upcoming December presidential and parliamenatry elections.
Speaking to the media atfer the National Council unanimously endorsed Dr. Opoku Prempeh, the Chief Scribe of the party described him as a man who complements Dr. Bawumia in many significant ways.
“In fact, he is a leader with a clear track record of achievement and shares Dr. Bawumia’s vision of bold solutions for our country that are responsive to the needs, opportunities and challenges of the 21st century. In this respect, he complements our flagbearer in many significant ways and the two enjoy a warm, personal relationship anchored on deep mutual respect,” he stated.
The party believes that the “great working relationship” between its Presidential Candidate and the running mate “coupled with their proven track-record and transformational campaign message would help the New Patriotic Party to secure a resounding third consecutive electoral victory.”
“I am happy to report that after the necessary consideration, the NC unanimously endorses Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate of Dr Bawumia,” General Secretary of the NPP Justin Kodua Frimpong said at a press conference on Thursday.
“He is a charismatic, bold leader who excelled at the Ministry of Education and at the Energy Ministry.
He said he is arguably the only Minister of Education in Ghana’s history to have successfully implemented the free SHS policy in the first term of President Akufo-Addo.
He added that Dr. Opoku Prempeh has shown his integrity and is well-known for his forthright opinions aimed at the country’s overall good.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s competence and ethics will be useful in their campaign for the 2024 general elections, he said.
