Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has advised party leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to cease lording over the grassroots.

The failed presidential aspirant in the party’s presidential election said there were several leaders who have offended the grassroots and must go back and apologise to them.

Speaking on behalf of the other failed presidential aspirants at the official outdooring ceremony of running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, he said some of the leaders have offended the grassroots.

“I want to admonish the party leaders who have offended the party members and generated anger at our grassroots to go back and apologise to them. You have to respect them. I am not asking you to go and give them money. But respecting them alone will change their minds. When you get the opportunity to be a leader, you have a responsibility to unite your people and lead your them with respect.

The Bible says if you want be a leader, you must first be a servant of the people. If you are elected to lead the party, it does not mean you will lord yourselves over the people. Some of the leaders were arrogant and disrespectful to you, but today they have come before you. We should learn from this and go house to house and apologise to those we have offended, and with unity, we will break the eight-year-jinx.”
