The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has issued a roadmap for its industrial action following the decision by Organised Labour to declare a strike action effective July 15, 2024, following the decision by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to sell a 60% stake in four of its hotels to Rock City Hotel, owned by Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Agriculture.
Organised Labour has declared an intention to embark on a strike action in opposition to the decision by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to sell a 60% stake in four of its hotels to Rock City Hotel, which is owned by Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong.
The nationwide industrial action will take effect on Monday, July 15, 2024.
The decision to embark on the strike action comes after Labour Minister Ignatius Baffour Awuah confirmed that the National Pension Regulatory Authority had granted SSNIT the green light to select the hotels.
The Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress, Dr. Yaw Baah, admonished all workers to abstain from their work on Monday, July 15, until the transaction is terminated.
In support of the call by Organised Labour, the GMA has announced that it will withdraw Outpatient Department (OPD) services on July 15, 2024.
This would be followed by the withdrawal of emergency services from July 18 to July 21, 2024.
The GMA will then withdraw all services on July 22, 2024.
It asked members to adhere to the directive.
