The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association has asked members to resume work effective Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
The association’s directive comes after its mother body, the Trades Union Congress (TUC), called off its strike action, which was announced last Friday.
The Public Relations Officer for the Association, Mr. Joseph Krampa, is speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, which thatemeves are expected to resume tomorrow.
Organised Labour has announced the suspension of its strike, which took effect today, Monday, July 15, against moves by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to offload 60% shares in four hotels to Rock City Hotel, owned by Ghana’s Food and Agriculture Minister, Bryan Acheampong.
The decision was announced at a news conference today by the Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Dr. Yaw Baah, after an emergency meeting on Monday, July 15.
Reacting to this, Mr. Krampa stated that “we have received notice from TUC instructing us to call off our strike. SSNIT, through an official letter, informed Organised Labour that the decision to sell the hotels had been terminated. Due to the latest developments, we have also called off our strike action. We are therefore advising our members to resume work tomorrow.”
He commended the media for the interest they developed in the matter, which he noted has led to the latest developments.
