We’ve got the strength and capacity to turn the tables around despite Fitch’s prediction – Nana Kay

Nana Kwadwo Agyei Yeboah, popularly known as ‘Nana Kay’, a member of the NPP’s communications, has reacted to Fitch Solutions prediction that President John Dramani Mahama will win the 2024 presidential election.

In a media interview, he discussed the possibility of the NPP winning the upcoming elections, despite Fitch Solutions’ survey results suggesting that the NDC might win.

During the interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Nana Kay mentioned that while he doesn’t dispute the research findings, he is confident in the NPP’s ability to address the situation and defend the party.

He also expressed confidence that the NPP will emerge victorious in the upcoming elections, citing their history of significant wins in previous elections.

Fitch Solutions, a research and data firm, has revealed in its latest survey that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will lose the elections.

The London-based firm disclosed that 54 percent of respondents surveyed predicted NDC’s candidate John Mahama as the winner in the upcoming presidential election.

Mike Kruiniger, who is an Associate Director, Country Risk at Fitch Solutions, said

“We believe that the opposition NDC has a stronger chance of winning the upcoming general elections compared to the ruling NPP. Recent polls consistently place the NDC ahead with the most recent survey showing 54 % of respondents favoring the NDC.

“In addition, multiple surveys have shown that economic management and job creation are going to be the most important issues during the election for voters which we believe will put the ruling NPP at a disadvantage given the economic challenges that the country has faced over the last couple of years.”

Nana Kay’s reaction: “I am confident that the NPP will win the elections. I don’t dispute Fitch Solutions’ survey results. You are free to play your own music and dance. This is not the first time they have forecast incorrectly, nor has it been the first time they have predicted correctly. What we mean is that, as a sensible political party, you will review the survey and use it to shape how you will conduct your activities.

“The NPP will not dismiss the research, as we have the capacity to transform an economy and win elections. President Akufo-Addo has stated that the NPP can transform the economy and win elections, but not bring people back to life. The NPP will work tirelessly to take the wisdom from the survey and break the eight-year-jinx, as we did in the 2016 and 2020 elections.”

The NPP secured victories in the 2016 and 2020 elections, with over a million and 50,000 votes respectively, and is expected to repeat this success this year, he added.
