The flagbearer of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) has challenged Ghana’s youth, particularly those affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), not to vote for former President John Dramani Mahama.
According to Mr. Percival Kofi Akpaloo, it is disheartening for young people, especially those in the NDC, to consider Mr. Mahama an alternative to the mess created by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He asserted that the country is going through unprecedented levels of hardship created by the ruling NPP and the opposition NDC.
To him, if Ghanaians want better opportunities, a stable economy, and leadership that will create better living conditions for the generation today and those unborn, then they have a duty to vote for the LPG.
“It should not be business as usual. If we want the troubles and crises confronting the nation to be resolved, then we have to change the way we do things in this country. There is no way we will move forward if we keep doing things the same way. Mahama is not an option. If you are a young person and a member of the NDC and you see Mahama as an alternative, then you don’t want a better future.
Bringing in Mahama will not solve our problems. He is not an option at all. Let me make this point as strongly as possible: if you are a young person and God has given you an opportunity on this earth and you want a better future for your children and the next generation, then Mahama is not an option.”
He argued that the former president has not given Ghanaians credible policies that can convince him and others that he is capable of managing the country as president.
He stated that the LPG, as a party, has over 160 parliamentary candidates around the country, making it easy to appoint ministers and deputy ministers in Parliament if he is elected.
He asserted that because the LPG is campaigning hard, Ghanaians will vote overwhelmingly for his party.
Mr. Akpaloo also revealed that under his presidency, he will pay child support of GHC500 every month if he is elected.
He also pledged to introduce unemployment benefits for unemployed youth in Ghana.
He further promised to continue with the implementation of the free SHS policy and also roll out free tertiary education.
Mr. Kofi Akpaloo stated that he will run the leanest government, naming only 39 ministers.
