President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sworn in Deputy Chief of Staff, Fawaz Aliu, and two others as new ambassadors.
The President appointed Fawaz Aliu as an Ambassador-at-Large in addition to his current role.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
Mr. Akufo-Addo also appointed Major General Charles Kojo Abedi Awity as Ghana’s Ambassador to Serbia, and Mr. Peprah Ampratwum, Ambassador in-Situ.
He charged them to help deepen the ties between Ghana and other countries as well as connect Ghana to investment opportunities.
He was hopeful they would excel in this new role and further strengthen Ghana’s diplomatic efforts worldwide.
Major General Abedi, speaking on behalf of the others, said they will make the country and Ghana proud.
An ambassador in situ is an informal term used to describe someone who is consistently present and actively involved in key events or decision-making processes.
This person is seen as a pivotal figure, often perceived to be overseeing or influencing outcomes. The term combines the role of an “ambassador,” a representative figure, with the concept of being “in situ,” meaning physically present or on-site.
