Dr. Clement Apaak, a former presidential staffer under former President John Dramani Mahama, has urged President Akufo-Addo and his corrupt appointees to prepare for a thorough investigation into the scandals of this government.
The Member of Parliament for Builsa South stated unequivocally that just as President Akufo-Addo ordered the investigation into the former president, even though evidence abounds that Mr. Mahama was cleared by US and UK courts in the Airbus scandal, he (Akufo-Addo) should be prepared to account for his stewardship.
He urged President Akufo-Addo and his corrupt appointees to prepare for investigations into the numerous corruption and thievery cases under the NPP government.
He has also asked Ghanaians not to cry witch-hunting when the tables turn and the corrupt officials of the NPP government are being investigated for their involvement in these scandals.
Dr. Apaak was optimistic that the day of accountability for the corrupt NPP government will surely come, and when that day arrives, all those alleged to have engaged in all forms of corruption and corruption-related activities should have no problem accounting for their stewardship.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has identified former president John Dramani Mahama as Government Official 1 in the Airbus Scandal.
The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, speaking at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, August 8, also confirmed the brother of the former president, Samuel Mahama, as intermediary 5.
Providing an update on the matter, he stated that John Dramani Mahama was identified as Government Official 1 and Individual 1 by the UK and US courts, respectively, but played no role in the acquisition.
In response, the former lecturer stated that it was clear from the start of the investigation that Mr. Mahama was innocent and had committed no wrongdoing, but the President ordered the OSP to conduct the investigation.
A statement he posted on X formerly Twitter said: “We never had a doubt that John Dramani Mahama did no wrong in the Airbus matter. Indeed, the investigations conducted in the USA and the UK into the saga never faulted John Dramani Mahama. Yet Akufo-Addo elected to cause him to be investigated by the OSP to sustain the lie that John Dramani Mahama is corrupt. Well, it is now clear that John Dramani Mahama is not corrupt, was never corrupt, and would never be corrupt. The Mother Serpent of Corruption and his appointees should be in readiness to subject themselves to investigations for all the allegations of corruption levelled against them. Let no one cry of political witch-hunting when the day comes. The day of accountability will surely come.”
