Ghanaians have witnessed nothing less than the collapse of the economy over the past eight years, the General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has opined.
Mr. Fifi Kwetey posited that hope in the country, especially among the youth, was lost.
The ruling New Patriotic Party, he said, has crushed the country and worsened the plight of the people.
Speaking at the launch of the NDC Youth Manifesto on Monday, August 12, 2024, he said that never in Ghana’s history have we seen the youth want to leave Ghana and seek greener pastures elsewhere.
“It’s sad that this country on the verge of 2009 when the NDC came into office, we had young people who were trooping back to this country… because they saw the hope of a country that was again looking towards building back.
“But unfortunately, over the last eight years, we have seen nothing short of the collapse of the economy of this country and the loss of hope and despair of our young people,” he said.
He assured Ghanaians that the NDC will roll out policies and programmes that will restore hope, create opportunities and transom lives.
“Anybody at all can have the policies. Over the last eight years, we have seen policies that have been unveiled. How many of you remember NABCO? What has happened to that,” Mr Kwetey questioned.
“Because it was nothing but a scam and 419 policy, it was a policy designed just for votes. The difference between us and them is that we think about policy first for progress before votes,” the NDC General Secretary added.
