Botswana has arranged a raucous welcome for Olympic Games 200 Men’s Metre Gold Medallist Letsile Tebogo and members of Botswana’s 4×400 Men’s Relay Team.
Over 30,000 people gathered at Botswana’s National Stadium to welcome the team for the festival they organised at the recently concluded Paris Olympics.
Tebogo guided the men’s 4×400 relay team to silver in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Tebogo’s gold medal is Botswana’s first in history.
Tebogo, 21, won the Men’s 200 Metres at this year’s Olympics in 19.46 seconds, beating Kenneth Bednarek and Noah Lyles of the United States.
Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi welcomed the athletes with groups of traditional dancers dressed in animal skins.
The team rode around the stadium while the crowd at the staduym cheered them on.
