President Akufo-Addo has taken a swipe at former President John Dramani Mahama, describing him as inconsistent.
According to him, the former president is behaving as if Ghanaians have forgotten about his record.
To him, the record of the National Democratic Congress’ candidate is a record of failure.
He said we’ve had the opportunity to have five presidents given to the country, and in particular, their performances—that of former President John Dramani Mahama—are the worst in our history.
“There’ve been given presidents in Ghana; one unfortunately died in earnest. But the other four are left, and I am saying this because I know there are going to be first-time voters. People really don’t remember our recent history very well. But three of these presidents—all of them—because of their records, the Ghanaian people renewed their mandate,” but former President John Dramani Mahama was voted out after his first term.
He said the return of Mr. Mahama is an image-saving exercise because he believes Ghanaians have forgotten his record.
He said Ghanaians will not allow the record of Mr. Mahama to be forgotten.
Without hesitation, Akufo-Addo said the leadership that Vice President Dr. Bawumia will deliver is the exact leadership Ghana requires for the fourth industrial revolution.
He further praised Dr. Bawumia’s efforts in areas such as digital transformation, financial inclusion, and infrastructure development, noting that these achievements have had a profound impact on the country’s growth.
He said we need to have a dependable and hard-working team, expressing his confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s ability to continue delivering results for the nation.
He urged Ghanaians to support the Vice President’s vision because he is the only one to move Ghana forward.
“I’m in the best place to give the testimony and appeal to Ghanaians to give the stewardship of this country in the next 8 years to Dr Bawumia and his running mate NAPO. Dr Bawumia and I met 16 years ago. And I can say that there has not been one day that I have regretted joining my life to his, either in opposition or in power.
“He has been a model of honesty, he’s a man who lives and breathes Ghana. I can say he will deliver on each of the commitments. I have never had any problem with my Vice President. I have gone to bed every night securing my knowledge that my vice president stands firmly and solidly behind me. He has been the model or picture of loyalty itself.
“This is a man who has respect for the people of Ghana. This is not the man who will tell Ghanaian people that you have short memories. He’s not that type of man, he’s a man who has respect for the people of Ghana, this is not a man when his policies failed and he will say that he’s not a magician, that is not the language of Bawumai.
“We have a man who is respectful and will work days and nights to ensure that our country continues on an upward trajectory.”
