The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has criticised former President John Mahama’s quest to reset the Ghanaian economy.
Dr. Bawumia says Ghana needs an upgrade and not a reset.
The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has consistently said he will address Ghana’s economic challenges by resetting and repairing the “damage to the Ghanaian economy.”
Speaking at the party’s campaign launch in Tamale on Saturday, July 27, Mr. Mahama mentioned that his primary focus will be the creation of jobs, which is why he has proposed the 24-hour economy, a policy he said would be linked to aggressive food production and modernisation of agriculture.
“We will reset Ghana. Four years is enough to reset the country,” he said
“I will be truthful to you; I will never tell you lies.”
Speaking at his media engagement with the Ghanaian media, Dr. Bawumia stated that he represents the future and that the country needs an upgrade and not a reset.
He also outlined 14 key commitments to the Ghanaian people if he is elected as the next President of the Republic of Ghana.
These are to sustain and expand Ghana’s rebounding economy; create new jobs; implement a wide range of tax reforms; build Ghana into a world-class economy; reduce the cost of living; expand public infrastructure; provide better healthcare for all; implement affirmative action bills for women and girls; expand educational opportunities for all; provide good governance; care for the elderly; protect our environment; boost sports, creative arts, and tourism; and protect our borders while keeping our neighbourhoods safe.
