One of three persons who sustained gunshot wounds following a shooting incident in Anum Apapam South Electoral Area in the Eastern region has died.
A shooting incident was recorded at Anum Apapam South Electoral Area in the Eastern region in the morning of Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
The shooting, according to the assemblyman of the area, was a result of a chieftaincy dispute.
The Honourable Takyi Ebenezer told Rainbow Radio 87.5FM that those behind the act were unknown but stressed that it could be another faction that has laid claim to the stool.
The chief of the area he reported died recently and was buried, and after his burial, traditional leaders made an attempt to enstool a new chief.
”However, when we awoke Tuesday morning, there was tension everywhere, with gunshots all over the place. Traders who came to trade had to flee for their lives. However, as I speak, the police have intervened and order has been restored.’’
He also informed the station that three people sustained injuries, but no deaths were recorded.
However, the update reaching Rainbowradioonline.com indicates that one of the three people who were shot has passed on.
There is currently a heavy security presence in the area to maintain law and order.
