The running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has appealed to residents of Wenchi in the Bono Region to honour the memory of former Prime Minister Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia by voting for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 general election.
NAPO, as he is affectionately called, made the appeal while on a campaign tour to Wenchi, where he laid a wreath in memory of the late politician.
He engaged with chiefs, the clergy, Muslims, and residents in the area.
He admonished the traditional leaders and the religious leaders to pray for the NPP and to offer guidance where necessary in their public service to the people.
He reminded residents of Dr. Busia’s contributions to the country and the Progress Party, which led to the formation of the NPP and produced former President Kufuor and
President Akufo-Addo. He emphasised that a vote for Bawumia would honour Dr. Busia’s legacy.
According to him, the government has chalked up remarkable achievements, hence the need for them to vote massively for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area, Kojo Frempong.
On his part, the parliamenatry candidate promised to reclaim the seat for the NPP and called for support from the chiefs and the people to ensure a resounding victory in December.
The Omanhene of Wenchi, Nana Ampem Anye Amoampong Tabrako III, commended NAPO for his achievements in the sectors he supervised in government.
He also appealed to the government to give them a fair share of the national cake considering the numerous challenges confronting them.
