Clement Wilkinson, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ga West Municipal Assembly, has lambasted former President John Dramani Mahama for targeting Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia after his recent media engagement.
The MCE says the former president has made mockery of the 2024 general elections, wondering why he would get so low.
The presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, took a swipe at Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over his responses to questions at his media encounter held on Sunday, August 25, 2024.
He criticised the Vice President, describing him as a liar who was not on top of issues.
Mr. Mahama said liars run their mouths like an AK-47 but will stammer when they are lying or responding to questions.
‘’You know how to tell when somebody is lying; if they are people who are smooth talkers who can speak ‘ratatata’ like a machine gun at the time when they become stammerers and they start stammering, you know they are lying. Somebody who can speak ‘tatatata’ like an AK-47 suddenly media encounters,’’ you are stammering (then mimics Dr. Bawumia).
He accused Dr. Bawumia of beating about the bush when he was asked questions stressing the need for politicians to do things with truthful intention.
‘’The basic principle of good leadership is truth and honesty. If you want to be a good leader, you must be truthful and honest to your people.’’
But reacting, the MCE posited that it is rather unfortunate that the former president will take the vice president in that manner, especially using the ‘tatata’ analogy.
Mr. Wilkinson stated that ‘tatatata’ is a sound reserved for discos where people smoke, drink, and engage in sexual activities.
“So this is the level of the campaign former President John Dramani Mahama has descended into. It is rather unfortunate. While taking on Dr. Bawumia, Mahama said Bawumia speaks ‘tatatata’ but from what I know, ‘tatatata’ is only heard and seen in discos. So is Mahama trying to tell Ghanaians his proposal on the 24-hour has reached this level? He wants to set up more and bigger discos so our young people will go there and smoke, drink, and engage in ‘tatatata’?
Is that the level of the campaign message now? Is that what he wants us to believe? With the unprecedented implementation of the free senior school policy and the over 4.5 million that have benefitted, Mahama wants to establish more discos so our young people will go there, smoke, and engage in ‘tatatata’. I am not against his policy to make discos operate 24 hours a day a day because it will create jobs. But for him to draw in Dr. Bawumia and say he speaks ‘tatatata’ is what I don’t understand because ‘tatata’ is not in the mouth but in discos. When you go to discos, they engage in all manner of things, including human rights violations and all manner of behaviours.”
