The father of Edward Borketey Sackey, the Form 3 O’Reilly Senior High School student who was fatally stabbed to death, has expressed shock at the incident.
The father says what has shocked him the most is how teachers who were present when the incident occurred ignored his son even after he had run to them for help.
Speaking in a media interview, he stated that it took some students who rushed his son to the LEKMA Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
In his narration, no single teacher who was present at the scene made attempts to offer any assistance in sending the boy to the hospital, although several of them had cars.
He claimed that the students had to run to the roadside, pick up a taxi, and rush his son to the hospital.
Accordingly, he got to the hospital, only to be informed by the medical doctor that his son could not survive.
The grieving father disclosed that not a single teacher or the headmistress of the school has called to officially inform him about the unfortunate incident.
He further stated that he had promised to buy his son a car if he passes his WASSCE with flying, while an uncle of his son who is based in Canada had promised to come and take him to Canada so he would go and continue his education there.
He described the late son as his best friend, denying any bad behaviour of the boy, saying, My son does not smoke or drink alcohol. He has never been suspended or engaged in any form of anti-school behaviour.
He also stated that the deceased’s mother collapsed and was taken to the hospital after learning of the tragedy, but she has since recovered.
