Sports journalist Yaa Baby has attributed the recent poor performance of Accra Hearts of Oak to spiritual problems.
She opined that the team must put in measures to address this challenge if they want to get to their glorious days.
The journalist indicated that the team must take steps in reconciling with past players, especially those they treated unfairly, and also treat their current players well so they will remain dedicated to the team.
Recounting the game the team played on Sunday, newcomers Basake Holy Stars in their opening match of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
The Phobians played host to the debutant side at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Despite home advantage, a 2nd-minute header by Prince Tweneboah sealed a 1-0 victory for Basake Holy Stars, leaving Hearts of Oak empty-handed.
Commenting on the performance of the team on Total Sports Review on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, she said the team played their best but the goal scoring became a challenge for them.
‘’ Let me make this point without mincing words. The team needs to engage in a baptism of fire for the players. The team should organise a convention and invite all the former players and ensure that if there are those that the team has offended, maybe it maybe about contract issues, or any other challenge that the team failed to address, they should address it. That is my point of view. Hearts of Oak team problem is not about football. The Hearts of Oak problem is in a different world and a different dimension. It has a different mentality and is not on the field of play.
I am telling you today. Anyone who has followed the team for years or has a spiritual eye and is called by God will attest to what I am saying. The problem is not about football, and if it were about that, we would not be talking about this issue… The team is facing a spiritual problem, and they have to deal with it. The way they treat some of their legends is also part of the problem. If they fail to address the problem, they can hire Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho, and even play against women; it will never work.’’
