The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has announced plans by the party to organise a nationwide demonstration on September 17th against the Electoral Commission over its refusal to commission a forensic audit of the voter register for the December polls.
He explained that the NDC has also not received any updates on the progress of investigations regarding those arrested for stealing some Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs).
Mr. Nketiah said that the failure by the EC to provide an update on the matter raises suspicion and was part of the reasons the party has decided to demonstrate.
He disclosed this in a media interview after filing the presidential nomination forms on behalf of former President John Dramani Mahama on Monday, September 9, 2024.
“Those of you who have been asking us what we would do if they did not comply, this is your answer: on the 17th of this month, the NDC is embarking on a massive nationwide demonstration in all 16 regional capitals.”
