Former Ghanaian player Stephen Appiah says it is a national embarrassment for Ghana to be seeking a venue outside the country to play its next qualifiers.
The opinion expressed by the former player comes after Africa’s football governing body, CAF, asked Ghana to look for other alternatives to play the remaining qualifiers after the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was rejected because it did not meet the standards.
Expressing his opinion in a post on X, formerly Twitter, Stephen Appiah underscored the need for Ghana to protect its national pride.
“Playing a qualifier outside Ghana, except in a tournament, is a national embarrassment. We must prioritise hosting our own games and protecting our football pride.”
