Mahama to Bawumia: How can the gods in our shrines grant you victory with this horrible performance?

September 16, 2024
Bawumia-sad

Presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama says the desperation on the part of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia moving churches to shrines with the hope of securing victory will yield no results.

He said the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) cannot be praying for victory when the leadership they have provided Ghanaians is nothing to write home about.

Speaking at a campaign event as part of his Greater Accra Regional Tour, he said it is unfortunate that despite the mess created under this government, chiefs, men of God, and other religious leaders are showering praise on Dr. Bawumia and declaring victory for him.

‘’You will see him paying a courtesy call on a chief, and then the chief will shower praise on him, claiming that he (Bawumia) has performed exceptionally well. When he visits a church, they will make him go down on his knees and pray for him and declare victory for him. He will then visit a shrine where libation is poured, and he is commended and told that the gods will make him victorious. How can you win the elections with such a horrible and underperforming government like this?”

He underscored the need for Ghanaians to vote massively for the NDC to reset the economy and restore investor confidence.
