Nii Kojo Ashiefie Papanyira, known privately as Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the Ghana Olympics Committee and newly appointed development chief of the Ga State, has accepted the role of Nɔyaa Mantse to serve and project the Ga State.
Mr. Nunoo Mensah has been installed in the Ga State in recognition of his exceptional contributions to sports and national development.
The sports enthusiast says he will use the opportunity to serve and bring development to the Ga State.
He is expected to assist the Ga Mantse in completing key development projects initiated by the Ga Mantsɛ, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, to uplift the Ga State.
According to him, this role comes with a lot of sacrifices, and he was prepared to do so and to encourage others to be at the top.
He asserted that when given such a role, you should prioritise the welfare of the people you serve.
He said, ‘’definitely it is going to come with a lot of sacrifice. At a certain age, you ask yourself, How many people have I influenced in this world? is not about your wife and children, but how many lives have you touched? If I can take this position and use it to influence people’s lives and change the direction of people’s lives for the better, why not? Somebody has to sacrifice for other people to get to the top, and if that is what I am being called to do, then we are ready to do that sacrifice and lift other people up’’.
“I am humbled by this great recognition,” he said, dedicating the title to the sports community and pledging to continue his work in advancing sports excellence in the country.
“I am very pleased that King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has initiated the King Tackie Teiko Tsuru Education Fund. With this, we can provide as many scholarships as possible to the youth of Ghana.
“There are many challenges in the Ga State, and I believe I can help the King restore the State to its former glory.”
