Running mate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, asked voters in the Ashanti region not to waste their votes on the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The former Energy Minister posited that the opposition party does not have any desire to develop the region; hence, voting for them would be a wasted vote.
He asserted that Ghanaians vote for development; hence, there was a need for them to vote against any political party. If you do not prioritise your progress, then you have wasted that vote.”
To him, the NPP is the only party with an interest in developing the region, and he urged voters to support them.
“The NDC is not committed to the proper development of the Ashanti Region,” Dr. Prempeh said during a rally in Tweapeasi. in the Odotobiri Constituency, on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
He went on to state that the NDC neglected the region whenever they were in office, despite the significant votes they received from the region.
“The NDC has always received a huge number of votes in the region during elections, and yet the NDC still considers Ashanti as a region that doesn’t support them.
The development of the region always comes to a standstill when the NDC is in office, and I think it’s deliberate,” he claimed.
He used the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) as an example and the piloting of a capping in the region.
He said after the NDC took over office, they introduced the capitation for NHIS only in the Ashanti Region just to create hardship for the innocent people.”.
It was deliberate because clearly you can see that the NDC and their leaders have something against the people of the Ashanti Region. We should, therefore, reject the NDC on December 7,” he advised.
