Former President John Mahama has reacted to his position on the ballot paper, saying he is satisfied.
According to the presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), his position on the ballot as number 8 is satisfactory.
He described it as symbolic and marks an opportunity for the party to challenge the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming December 7 elections.
He made the remarks during a campaign trip of the Ablekuma North Constituency as part of his Greater Accra tour.
Mr. Mahama stated that the NPP’s attempt to break the eight has been hampered, claiming that the number 8 now belongs to the NDC.
‘’By God’s grace, we picked eight. Some people claim they are going to break the eight. ‘I have the eight; let them come and break it, and let me see’ he said.
“We recall how, in 2016, taxi and trotro drivers founded a group called ‘Drivers for Change.’ They demonstrated by parking their automobiles in the middle of the street. When questioned about their concern, they answered, ‘Mahama, gasoline costs are too high,’ and our NPP comrades assured them that if they won power, fuel prices would be reduced.
“The current fuel price is 70 cedis per gallon, up from 14 cedis when they made those pledges. Mahama enquired, “Where is the relief they promised?”
