The Health Ministry has handed over the case of alleged medical misconduct at the Trauma and Specialist Hospital to the Criminal Investigations Department and Attorney-General’s office.
The Ministry explained that the case was forwarded to the CID and the A-G’s office after the committee tasked to investigate the matter concluded its work.
The Ministry, after its probe, concluded that the employees identified as having contributed to the planning and evacuation of the patient from the hospital to Ojobi, where she was abandoned until her death, did not act appropriately.
The committee, in their recommendation, asked that the staff be sanctioned by the Ghana Health Service through internal disciplinary procedures.
But the Ministry, in the statement, said due to the gravity of the case and considering the patient involved died, there was the need for further investigations to be conducted by the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.
It has therefore appealed to the A-G to initiate an investigation into the case to determine the culpability or otherwise of the affected staff and take any further action deemed appropriate.
