As part of the government’s efforts to combat unlawful mining activities known as galamsey, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) is working with small-scale miners to crack down on illegal miners.
A statement issued by the Information Ministry announced that the collaboration seeks to promote responsible mining practices while intensifying the fight against galamsey.
The statement noted that the collaboration will help identify and expose illegal operators, enabling more efficient enforcement of laws and regulations in affected areas.
It will also focus on educating miners about sustainable mining practices and the harmful effects of galamsey on water bodies, forests, and farmlands.
