Renowned gospel musician and ordained minister, Jojo Immanuel-Lawson, has revealed that overcoming sexual temptation, particularly from women, has been one of the most significant challenges he has faced.
He noted that some individuals, particularly women, are intentionally sent to tempt and undermine one’s integrity, emphasizing the importance of inner strength in resisting such advances.
Pastor Immanuel-Lawson shared personal experiences where women employed underhanded tactics to entice him into inappropriate relationships.
In an interview with Sokoohemaa Kukua on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s midmorning show, he recounted a personal anecdote involving a woman who extended an invitation to her home with ulterior motives, which he recognized and escaped.
Furthermore, he discussed his experiences preaching abroad in Brazil and the Philippines, where women were allegedly deployed to tempt him, stressing the necessity of strong faith and self-control for those in spiritual leadership.
“Exercising self-discipline is a formidable undertaking. During my time in Asia, I confronted substantial temptation, especially on an island and similarly in Brazil, where women presented a notable allure. However, as a man of faith, discipline is fundamental. Some individuals may camouflage their true intentions beneath a veneer of devotion to God, necessitating prudent judgment and swift withdrawal from such temptations.
As a man of God, self-discipline is essential. I once received a dinner invitation from a woman, only to discover upon arrival that the setting was inappropriate and her intentions were not genuine, prompting my immediate departure. This experience invoked the biblical figure Jezebel, epitomizing temptation, from which I fled.”
