Industrial Relations Officer for the GPRTU, Mr. Abass Imoro, told Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM that arriving alive is crucial and drivers must remain disciplined and avoid reckless driving, including overspeeding and overtaking.
“We have repeatedly emphasised the importance of driver discipline on our roadways. We have always advised our drivers to avoid reckless driving, follow traffic signs, and drive safely. The most important aspect is discipline. If you are driving and are told to reduce your speed to 60 kilometres per hour, you must comply. It will help save lives, reduce accidents, and avoid pedestrian knockdowns,” he said.
He also advised the Ghana Police Service’s Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) to enforce the law by dealing with irresponsible and indisciplined drivers on the highways.
“We would also encourage the Ghana Police Service to enforce the law against reckless drivers who speed on our roads. They must monitor the drivers who speed on our roadways. If we fail to address them in accordance with our laws, we will continue to record traffic accidents and lose lives as a result, he continued.
