Kwadwo Addai Mensah, a veteran sports journalist, has suggested to coach Otto Addo to honourably resign if he fails to qualify the senior national team, he Blacks, to the 2025 Morocco African Cup of Nations.
He advised him not to wait to be sacked but to take that decision to resign from his coaching job if we are unable to qualify for the games.
He opined that the team cannot improve if we are unable to participate in competitive games, and the AFCON would be a perfect platform for us to achieve that.
‘’Honestly speaking, I always compare things to the corporate world because I work in the corporate world. I think that Otto Addo must step down if he is unable to qualify for the AFCON. Even though it is a three-year project and all that to build a team, if you are not going to competitions, if you don’t play in competitive football, you will not improve. You need competitive football to improve. But the least you could have done is to qualify us for AFCON. That’s my personal view,’’ he said on Rainbow Sports on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM.
He also complimented Mohammed Kudus on the apology letter he issued for the team’s poor performance against Sudan.
He stated that the player demonstrated leadership, and as a sports critic, he was impressed by this act.
”Kudus demonstrated leadership. It was a positive step forward. I am impressed by his leadership qualities. I want the team to come together and do something to make up for their poor recent performance. However, I do not believe we will be able to qualify for the AFCON. Even mathematically, I don’t believe we have a chance.”
