The Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, who is also a Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, has denied that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is planning to rig the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
The lawmaker stated unequivocally that the elephant family has no intention of rigging the elections, urging Ghanaians to disregard the NDC’s false accusations.
Mrs. Owusu-Erkuful posited that the NPP has chalked up remarkable successes and does not need to rig the elections to remain in office.
She said the achievements of the NPP across all sectors of the economy will make Ghanaians vote for them massively.
The Minister made the remarks when she joined the free breast screening exercise organised by Rainbow Radio 87.5FM on Friday, October 25, 2024.
“The NDC has realised that they will lose the elections, so they are making false claims to incite their supporters.” They are also attempting to persuade people to discredit the overall outcome of the results. The NPP has made significant gains. We have done a lot for Ghanaians. We have a superior track record, which will persuade people to vote for us in large numbers. We do not require an election rigging plot to win the elections. We are doing our best, and we are confident that God will reward our efforts and make Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia President of the Republic.
We will also secure the majority of the seats in parliament. This is the reason why the NDC is afraid and going around the country alleging that we want to rig the elections. We don’t rig elections like the NDC does. We are promoters of free, transparent, and credible elections. We are not like the NDC that engages in such activities. We will go into the elections and win on our records and sound policies. We will encourage them to desist from any acts of violence because we will not give them that chance. We will match them squarely. We will not be intimidated or discouraged. Ghanaians will turn out in the numbers and vote massively for Number 11 and all our parliamentary candidates. The elections will not be about lawlessness, insults, and intimidation. It would be about a solid track record.’’
She cautioned Ghanaians not to trust in former President John Dramani Mahama because a vote for him will destroy the gains made by the NPP and see top the cancellation of all the major policies of the current government.
