MP: Breast cancer isn’t a death sentence; offers free screening on Oct. 30

October 28, 2024
Lydia-Alhassan-600x375-1

Madam Lydia Seyram, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, is urging the Ghanaian public, particularly women, to schedule regular breast screening because it is the most effective way to prevent end-stage breast cancer.

The lawmaker and Minister of Sanitation stated that early detection entails performing monthly breast self-exams as well as scheduling clinical breast exams and mammograms.

She explained that the most appropriate course of action, as recommended by medical professionals, is to learn more about breast self-examination in order to increase the chances of early detection.

The MP made the suggestion when she joined a free screening exercise organised by Rainbow Radio 87.5FM in collaboration with the Trust Hospital.

Madam Seyram Alhassan posited that breast cancer is not a death sentence, hence the need for women to seek early treatment.

” Breast cancer may not necessarily mean death. Early detection may save your life. You can survive with early treatment and adequate care. Breast cancer is no longer considered a threat to human survival. Today, however, we have breast cancer survivors thanks to breakthroughs in medical care and medications, as well as professional care. You can be treated if you are found early enough. It no longer poses a threat to human survival. My sister has survived breast cancer and endured therapy for the previous two decades. She does everything just like I do. There is no sense of fear.

All you have to do is practise healthy eating habits and consume a well-balanced diet. Eating healthy, eating fruits, and drinking plenty of water will help you live longer and avoid a variety of diseases. We should try to evaluate our breasts on a regular basis. There is no need to be concerned about your current status. It helps to secure your life.

Meanwhile, she has stated that she would hold a free breast screening exercise on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Mepeasem Polyclinic.

”On Wednesday, I will organise a free breast screening exercise at the Mepeasem Polyclinic. If you were unable to attend the one organised by Rainbow Radio, you should do so on Wednesday. There is no reason to be afraid. Join the exercise organised by the Lydia Seyram Alhassan Foundation.
