The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced that the cases of cholera have increased 56 since the outbreak in Kasoa.
There were only five cases recorded in the area, but health authorities have warned that the cases have shot up, hence the need for the public to practice good hygiene.
Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye, Director-General of the GHS, said in a media interview that 46 patients have been admitted and are responding to treatment, while the death toll from last week remains at five.
He stated that the recorded cases in Kasoa are 15, while the remaining cases are in the districts such as Gomoa East and Ga South.
He advised all regional health departments to be on the alert and also put in place preventive measures against the spread while admonishing the public to observe high levels of hygiene and sanitation.
“Let’s ensure that we keep a sanitary environment around us. We wash our hands all the time as we were doing in COVID time. Schools must ensure that they have WASH facilities, and running water to wash their hands with soap, workplaces must have that, and marketplaces must do all the needful to ensure that a sanitary environment is important. So that even if someone has it you don’t get it,” he added.
