Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claims that the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, and members of his party are insulting him and members of the elephant family because they believe they will lose the upcoming December elections.
The Vice President stated that the NDC’s candidate had lost the contest and had resorted to insults, which would have no bearing on the election results.
”The NDC has realised they will lose the elections, so they have begun insulting us. However, we will not respond to their insults. We are going to win the 2024 election. We will win based on our achievements, he stated.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia unveiled a proposal to establish a Minerals Development Bank, designed to provide financial support to small-scale miners. This institution would offer financing options to facilitate the acquisition of essential equipment for safe and responsible mining practices, mirroring the model of the Agricultural Development Bank’s services to farmers.
On Monday, November 4, Dr. Bawumia addressed stakeholders in Ntobroso, Atwima Mponua District, Ashanti Region, outlining his vision for small-scale mining.
He detailed plans for the Geological Survey Authority to provide miners with mapped locations of gold deposits, thereby reducing exploratory efforts.
Additionally, he proposed implementing a community mining scheme and licensing system, enabling miners to operate formally without restrictions. Dr. Bawumia also announced measures to ensure traditional leaders receive a share of mining concessions within their jurisdictions, fostering community oversight and resource protection.
