The High Court in Accra has ordered the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to call off its strike action.
The directive from the court follows an injunction filed by the National Labour Commission (NLC) against the strike action.
CLOGSAG declared a nationwide strike action effective November 7, due to the government’s delay in finalising a new salary structure.
The Association says it was unfair for the government not to implement the proposed salary structure, despite a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) being reached one and a half years prior.
The court order signed by Justice Frank Aboadwe Rockson noted that “UPON READING the affidavit of OFOSU ASAMOAH of House No. C199 Norley Afia Street Nmai-Djorn, Accra, the Executive Secretary for the Applicant herein filed on the 7th day of November, 2024, in support of Motion Ex-Parte for an order for Interlocutory Injunction:
AND UPON HEARING the submission of ALEXANDER OWUSU JUNIOR ESQ., Counsel for and on behalf of the Applicant herein:
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the respondent, their executive officers, members, agents, servants, employees, and other persons are restrained from further continuation of their strike action from 7th November, 2024.
IT IS HEREBY FURTHER ORDERED that the respondent by itself, its executives, officers, members, agents, servants, employees, and other persons are to comply with the directives of the National Labour Commission dated 6th November, 2024 and call off the industrial action.”
