President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has admonished world leaders to move beyond rhetoric and take concrete, decisive actions to address the global climate crisis.
The Ghanaian leader noted that time was running out, hence the need for the world leaders to implement immediate and impactful solutions that are essential to safeguarding lives and ecosystems worldwide.
Speaking at COP29 in Azerbaijan on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, during the World Climate Leaders Summit, President Akufo-Addo also posited that there was a critical need for effective measures to protect vulnerable communities from the increasing threats posed by climate change.
“We gather here; we must demonstrate that we are not only individuals or policymakers but as people bound by the love for our land and environment.
“Our children’s future hinges on our decisions, so COP29 must be a shift from dialogue to action,” he stressed.
President Akufo-Addo underscored the need for the importance of developed nations committing to financial support to accelerate the transition to green energy.
