President Akufo-Addo is backing the Electoral Commission’s rigging plans – Ako Gunn

November 14, 2024
Ako Gunn

Deputy Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin AkonGunn, has stated categorically that the Electoral Commission has an agenda to rig the upcoming elections in favour of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He is also alleging that the rigging and manipulation of the results had the blessing of President Akufo-Addo.

Mr. Ako Gunn stated that if elections were held today, the NPP would lose miserably for their mismanagement, incompetence, corruption, and the economic mess they have created.

However, he believes there is an attempt to rig the elections in favour of the NPP, and that was something the NDC is working so diligently to stop.

Speaking in an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM, he said at every move of the EC and the NPP, which seeks to overturn the will of the people, the NDC is well prepared to stop it and match the NPP boot for boot.

He said the EC has not been transparent in its activities.

He noted that the EC has failed to tell the political parties the number of polling stations they have collapsed or merged.

“This information must be readily available to the political parties, and yet the EC has not presented it to the parties. This is the worst election we are going to have in our history as a country. But we are aware the EC and the NPP led by President Akufo-Addo are in bed. We have accepted that they are in bed together, and so we will not rely on anyone but put our destiny in our own hands.

We have a duty as a political party to protect the ballots, preserve the will of the people, and prevent them from overturning the will of the people. We trust that Ghanaians are willing to vote massively for the NDC, and our duty is to protect the ballot. These are the only things we can do because the EC has failed woefully in ensuring that it will organise free, fair, and transparent elections,” he said.
