Making money through dubious means or shortcuts will have consequences—Sosu to Gen Zs

November 15, 2024
Francis-Xavier-Sosu

Member of Parliament for Madina Francis-Xavier Sosu has reminded the Gen Zs that ‘’all that glitters is not gold’’.

The lawmaker stated that having the desire to find dubious ways or shortcuts in making money has consequences, and the ‘’reality will soon catch up with you.

He said in life, there are some values you would need to build in yourself because, without these values, a time will come when you will be irrelevant to society.

Francis-Xavier Sosu advised the youth to invest time in building their skills, have strong values, and become people with integrity and credibility since that will help them help their society.

He also admonished them to also volunteer some time in serving the society, as, in time, it will help in shaping them and how they rise in the future.

‘’If you fail in building these values, you realise in no time that you have no footing. Those values will help you build your future, ‘’ he added.

He stressed that there is no benefit in using dubious means to make money because they have consequences.

The MP has been commended and honoured for his human rights advocacy by three internationally acclaimed institutions.

The lawmaker has been nominated for the US Presidential Voluntary Service Award 2024.

Jacobs-Abbey Global Institute of Leadership Studies in the USA nominated Mr. Sosu for the award, and the nomination was approved by the Whitehouse on June 19, 2024.

In May 2024, the National Golden Excellence Awards Team named Mr Sosu Ghana’s Outstanding Political Personality.

The award recognised his significant contributions to policymaking and social justice, which extended beyond the Madina Constituency and influenced the nation as a whole.

This award recognises his influential role in shaping policy and promoting social justice in the country.

In June, he was named the 2024 Most Outstanding African Parliamentarian 2024 in Human Rights and Advocacy at the African Public Service (APSO) awards ceremony in Accra.

This recognition recognises his pivotal contributions to legislative efforts that prioritise human dignity and equality throughout Africa.

He is the immediate past 2nd Vice President of the United Nations Association of Ghana and currently serves as Patron of the Cancer Project Foundation, Ghana, and Vice Chairman of the Trade and Investment Committee of the Africa Bar Association (AfBA).

Francis-Xavier Sosu also serves as Deputy Ranking Member of the Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana.

As an MP, he has introduced 17 private member’s bills, three of which have been passed, and one awaiting presidential assent to abolish the death penalty in Ghana under the Criminal Offences Amendment Act.

Francis-Xavier Sosu also championed the criminalisation of witchcraft accusations in Ghana to protect vulnerable aged women.
