Please call your relatives back home in Ghana to vote massively for the NPP – CEO, NHIA

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Aboagye Dacosta, has appealed to Ghanaians living abroad, particularly those in the United Kingdom, to call their families back home and encourage them to vote massively for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said the ruling NPP led by President Akufo-Addo has chalked remarkable successes in the health sector, and the only person who can sustain the gains is Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He told Sir Richie on ‘As it is in Ghana’ on Rainbow radio 92.4Fm that this government has managed to revive the National Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which collapsed under the previous Mahama-led administration.

As a result, he has warned Ghanaians living abroad to call home and encourage their registered voters to vote in large numbers for the NPP.

”I want to appeal to Ghanaians living abroad, particularly those in London, to contact their relatives back home and urge them to vote massively for us. The NPP has done exceptionally well. We want you to vote for us so that we can continue our good works. So I’m appealing to them to call home and vote for the NPP so that we can keep making the NHIS a success,” he said.

The National Health Insurance Authority’s (NHIA) CEO claims that the previous administration, led by John Mahama, left a GHC 1.2 billion debt.

Dr. Dacosta Aboagye stated that the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) nearly failed due to poor management by the NDC administration.

”The NDC left a debt of GHC 1.2 billion at the NHIS, but as I speak with you, I have appealed to the various facilities to submit their claims for them to be paid all outstanding debt owed them.

The NHIS has been transformed. It is at its best in our twenty-year history. The NHIS is being managed far better under the NPP compared to the past. As I speak with you, we have transformed the health sector and made it more accessible for Ghanaians with the introduction of a telemedicine initiative where you can access drugs through the e-pharmacy platform.”
