Following the cholera outbreak in the region, the Western Regional Co-ordinating Council (WRCC) has prohibited vegetable vendors from selling their products.
The region has 789 suspected cases and 8 fatalities.
According to emerging information, the number of daily reported cases has surpassed 60, with 95% of infections occurring in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan and Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal areas.
In a communiqué issued on December 10, the WRCC warned that violators of the ban would face prosecution under the Public Health Act of 2012 (Act 851).
The council urged residents to strictly follow the directive to help prevent the disease from spreading.
“The ban will remain in place until public health officials confirm the safety of such practices.”
“Meanwhile, vegetables purchased for domestic use should be treated properly before use.”
