The Kwesimintsim Polyclinic is appealing to corporate Ghana, individuals, philanthropic organisations, and the Ghanaian public for support in response to the escalating number of cholera cases.
Dr. Osei Frimpong, medical director of the Polyclinic, stressed that the facility requires external assistance to cope with the surge in cases.
Despite offering free treatment for cholera, the facility is facing shortages of crucial items, including toiletries, detergents, nose masks, and sanitisers, which are essential for managing cases within the facility.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM, he revealed the facility is currently recording not less than 20 to 30 cases every day.
He stated that the facility would appreciate it if the public could donate toiletries, detergents, and other supplies to assist in the treatment of patients.
He claims that due to financial constraints, several affected people refuse to visit the hospital.
He clarified that cholera treatment is free and that the public should seek help if they begin to experience symptoms.
“Treatment for cholera is free, and so the facilities are spending a lot on treating the patients, and so we would need help. I would want to appeal to corporate Ghana, individuals, philanthropic organisations, and the Ghanaian public for support. We will need more detergents, nose masks, parazone, gloves, protective gear, nappies, among others.”
