Sarah Adwoa Safo, the outgoing Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, believes it is critical for the party to work to ensure that they can reclaim the seat, with or without her.
The MP told journalists that she did not want to still be the face of Dome-Kwabenya after losing the New Patriotic Party internal primaries.
She stated that she has made it clear that she will be joining the national campaign team since losing the primaries
This was her response after she was asked why she did not help her party retain the seat in the just-ended elections.
“A very important factor is my dad and the church. I think that moving forward as a party we have to have a look at that in the constituency: what role does it play, and what pointers does it give to us moving forward?” she told journalists on Monday, December 16, 2024, when parliament resumed sitting.
To her critics who blamed her for the party’s defeat, she insisted that “I think that those are [people] just criticising for criticising’s sake.”
“From the moment I lost that seat in my primary, I made it clear that I would be joining the national campaign.”
She further advised the party to assess and address the factors that led to their defeat in Dome Kwabenya.
