Joe Biden, the outgoing President of the United States of America (USA), reduced the sentences of 37 federal death row inmates to life imprisonment.
According to Joe Biden’s statement, these 37 people’s sentences have been commuted without the chance of parole.
He indicated that the action was consistent with his administration’s moratorium on federal executions, with the exception of terrorism and hate-motivated mass murder.
“I am commuting the sentences of 37 individuals on federal death row to life sentences without the possibility of parole.
This action is consistent with my Administration’s moratorium on federal executions, except for cases involving terrorism and hate-motivated mass murder.”
